In Las Vegas and Southern Nevada, hundreds of children and adults are affected by burns, fire, and other catastrophic events. These scars must be worn physically and emotionally for the rest of their lives, but they are not alone.  After a devastating call, firefighters contact a representative of the Firefighters of Southern Nevada Burn Foundation to provide assistance to the victim/family affected. The Burn Foundation provides resources, supplies, and support to our local community.

How We Started

While fighting fires and responding to devastating calls, firefighters witness many burn victims and their families suffer after losing their homes, necessities, and health. A core group of firefighters from different departments across the valley decided to act, and create a resource after the fire. This has since led to the development of the Burn Survivor Initiative, raising money to send juvenile survivors to seasonal burn camps, receive counseling and supplies, attend school reintegration programs, and begin living their new lives. 

The coalition grew and decided to dive deeper into the community by collecting toys in December. The resulting Fill The Fire Truck Toy Drive now brings a smile to tens of thousands of children each holiday season. In 2003, the informal group became an official 501(c)(3) charitable organization and continues to provide support to families throughout Southern Nevada.
